Metallibash 2005

The UK Torn summer bash 2005 took place on the 16th of July 2005 at The Roost in Long Eaton. Like the first Torn Bash, the venue was secured based on the fact it was the local haunt of one of the Torn admins… Pete (aka – Acho). Again like The Intrepid Fox, The Roost was notorious amongst locals as a fantastic rock bar and venue for bands, so it was deemed perfect for the Bash.

The day itself was a scorching one. The admins started early with the setting up process and the organisation of the days event. Doors opened early afternoon and the Bash went on till after midnight.

Members and friends travelled from all over the country, including a bunch of crazy Irish members from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. For some it would have been the first time they met other members, or interacted with them face to face as oppose to message boards.

The days events involved competitions all through the night. Three raffles were held where the proceeds went to charity. Another successful competition was the headbanging competition where individual members headbanged to their favourite metal tunes for a chance to win ESP goodies. For the raffles, we gave a way loads of goodies including CD’s, signed Metallica t-shirts, Lars drumstick, set lists, very rare stuff and much more. And I think now it is appropriate to thank ESP, Total Rock, Metbooth John and Metclub for their extremely kind donations.

The charities we chose to donate to were on the name of Robert Reisinger. Former Metbooth King. Robert died as a result of depression, so we felt that it was appropriate to split the proceeds of what was raised between the Mental Health Association of San Francisco and Depression Alliance UK. Both do outstanding work to help educate people and also assist in those suffering from Depression.

Certificates and receipts from the charities are below, click to enlarge.

Like the first Bash, the response we had was immense. Not only did people come away drunk, loaded with great prizes, but they also come away satisfied with the event as a whole, meeting new people and putting something towards a great cause.
