Metallibash
What is a UK Torn Metallibash?
An event organised by the admin staff of the UK Torn to get a bunch of Metallica nutcases together to enjoy each others company and a few drinks!
Why do we organise Bashes?
The point of a local chapter is to bring Metallica fans together so they can meet like-minded fans. The UK Torn has a very diverse community when it comes to fans, so diverse that we were “forced” not just to incorporate the United Kingdom into the community but also members of the Republic of Ireland. We have built a big reputation for being one of the most notorious chapters within the Metclub, and once word got round about us, some of our neighbours decided they wanted a piece of the action too!
The UK Torn felt that it would only serve our members right if we were to organise a big Bash to celebrate the music of Metallica. A perfect tool to bring everyone in the Torn community together.
The first Bash we organised was placed strategically to coincide with the 20th December 2003 Earls Court show. We felt it was appropriate to bring people from all over the world together to see what we as a chapter can do and to allow our members to meet each other.
The second major Bash took place in the summer of 2005. A much more intimate and local affair. Since the birth of the chapter in 2002, we have recruited many more members, this Bash gave the chance for newer members to meet other members.
The third Bash 'Fade to Black Country' is well under way with special guest Brian Tatler from Diamond Head popping his head in to meet and greet fans. We have also got some events planned for the day and some great competitions with prizes from our 'friends'. Money raised again will be going to charity. Of course we'll have a full review of the event in due course.
